Wurtz Reaction- Important Reaction

When alkyl halide reacts with sodium then higher member of hydrocarbon is obtain this reaction is known as wurtz reaction.

Wurtz-fittings reaction

When any haloarene reacts with alkyl halide in presences of sodium metal halogen atom of haloarene gets substituted to for higher arene. This reaction is known as wurtz-fitting reaction.

Fitting Reaction

When to molecules of aryl halide are heated with sodium, then diaryl molecules is formed. This reaction is known as fitting reaction.

Hunsdiecker Reaction

Silver salt of fatty acid is heated with chlorine/bromine in presence of CCl4 to get alkyl chloride or bromide. This reaction is known as Hunsdiecker Reaction.

Darzen Reaction

Alcohol is heated with thioxyl chloride in presence of small amount of pyridine, which forms alkyl chloride. This is known as Darzen Reaction. Generally it is used to convert primary alcohols to halides which is unbranched.

Haloform Reaction

Those reaction in which methyl ketones and CH3CHOH group bearing compounds react with halogen in presence of  caustic base of to form haloform compound, these are called haloform reaction.

Iodoform Reaction

Who is reaction in which ethanol or propanone or other suitable compounds react with base (NaOH or Na2CO3) in presence of iodine to form yellow crystals and is known as Iodoform  reaction.

Swart Reaction

Alkyl fluoride are obtained from chlorides by reaction with a carbonic fluorides like Hg2F2 or antimony trifluoride. This is known as swart reaction.

Konort-Frinkelstein Reaction

On reaction of chloro or bromo alkane with sodium iodide in presence of acetone we get iodoalkane. This reaction is known as Konort-Frinkelstein reactions.
